Is a poet a writer?
Is a writer a poet?
Either Poet or Writer?
Neither Writer nor Poet?
Both Poet or Writer?
Which one are we?

These are the questions I have been asking around and myself. Though I have some friends who are writers, they are not poets. One out of the writers is a poet whereas my writing isn’t so well but unexpectedly, poetry opens my unique poetic voice. I really thank God for opening my voice. Wish you all have good days and thank you.
I think poets are certainly writers, but writers have a range to spread out on – they can be all of it or the smallest thing – but not always a poet. If someone told me I wasn’t a writer, it would sadden me – because it isn’t true. Good questions though (: Good thinking.
Thank you for the clarification
A poet is a writer who goes straight for the heart.
π Thank you, Richard, for your explicit explanation
Welcome π
π
We are and can be both, Yoshiko but a poet writes from the heart. π
I believe that a poet is a type of writer – a specialized, unique type π
I see π thanks
Agree with Christy Birmingham… A poet is a writer that just adores metaphors and poetic images… Best regards Aquileana π
Thank you, Aquileana, for your comments π
I believe all words expressed from the heart is a form of poetry. You are both, my friend.
Thanks, my friend, though I am struggling in writing with long words
Poetry not necesary nees to be writen, it can be visual, video art, photography …
I believe that poetry is a one step more than writing, a state in itself.
Poetry is a picture painted with words
Thanks π
Mark Twain spoke of the βbest word, not itβs second cousinβ and Coleridge distinguised between prose and poetry as βprose β words in their best order, poetry β the best words in their best order.β
Thanks π
I still gulp before saying that I am a writer or poet π
That is what I wonder about myself also
Both.
