Little Manager

Dry your hair.
Sit here.
Play with me.

Take this.
For you.

Mum carries the groceries;
Dad carries me.

[Offering Grand-Uncle a cup of tea]
[Waited for him to finish sipping]
[Wear him his cap then wear mine]
Please accompany me to playground.

[Pull uncle’s hand]
Sit on the floor.
Let’s play Lego.

During dinner, my toddler told me to dry my hair because of wet hair after shower. Knowing my limitation not being able to carry him, he suggested me to carry the groceries so that his dad can carry him. My husband answered him that his hands were full while I held his hand. My cousin who stayed a few nights in my house were requested to accompany him to play and even bring his playground. The above inspirations are written from his voice and point of view.

Ant’s Death

Roaming ants on tables
As they march to their nest hole at a corner
Roaming ants on walls
As they march to their nest hole at a corner

Lone ranger ants
Lost ants
Roam, Roam.
Roaming into cups
Roam, Roam.
Roaming into mugs
Roam, Roam.
Roaming into kettles.

Losing grips;
Shouting “HELP!”;
Fall to their deaths;
Into the seabed of water –
HOT Water!

Oftentimes, an ant or even five ants died in my cup filled with warm water. Even dead ants are inside the kettle. I was imagining the possibility of their presence in my cup even my family’s cup. So my imagination has been running wild about the lone ranger ants’ death existence.

Nothing Can Deter

Despite of warnings, disapprovals, and scolding,
Nothing . . .
Nothing can deter his curiosity.
Without any sense of danger,
Curiosity that may kill the cat,
Chasing after him
Stopping him from:

Opening the fridge door numerous times,
Turning on the oven knob twice,
Running around under the tables,
Climbing and sitting on the chairs,
Slapping the hot tea cup and it splashes onto the floor,
Holding a ceramic cup on tables,
Pressing the computer’s button.

It all began when my mother reinforced such behaviours again. She gave in to my son whenever he whined. My helper helped me in cleaning my wardrobe, dressing table, and the drawers in my room. My mother willingly took care of my thirty months old toddler. The cleaning commenced from yesterday and today. Oh, he couldn’t listen to an instruction with first warnings. Sometimes I wonder why does my mum listens and gives in to his whining. When I was young, that is not the case.
