Do I matter?
Or do I not matter?

Only to be a door mat
Or to be a floor mat

Is my dream unacceptable?
Only to be overwritten
Opinions are given to me to be listened

Is my voice unheard?
Due to my softness

My mind wanders
Aimlessly in the clouds

My legs wanders
Aimlessly between house and outside

Do I matter?
Or do I not matter?

Driven by the strong feelings of depression, I begin to question my existence. Questioning the reason of me being alive instead of my eldest sister who is more intelligent then I do. Her intelligence and strong absorption in learning are praised by my parents. And I know I am slow. Hence, I do my best in my studies. Escaping deaths thrice plus twice. I feel so tired of living and being taken advantage. Do I able to succeed to contribute to my family financially? Thank you for your time to read this poetry. Bark to Silence

Turning head
Eyes scan through

Ears detect barking dog
In a unit amongst the block

Where? Where?
Where is the dog?
It barks
Do not disturb
My sleep

While my son, husband, and I walked home, we passed by a block. Suddenly, a mini dog’s bark was heard nearby. My son was searching the dog, but it stopped barking. As if the dog fell asleep so I explained to him that probably the dog informed not to disturb its sleep.

Sneak . . . Sneak . . . Sneak . . .
Shining a tiny torchlight onto the floor
As I walk into the bathroom
Not wishing to disturb
The sleepers around me.
Sneak . . . Sneak . . . Sneak . . .
Here, I return to my bed.

Quietly, a thief breaks into a house

Quietly, a thief snatches a wallet

Quietly, a burglar snatches a bag

Valuable stuff disappears.

Abruptly, I peek into the kitchen
Long thin black tail wags happily

Then it disappears.
Oh! It is a black white cat!
But we gives him a warm welcome
With cat food, licking from our palm.

Suddenly, “sneak” spoke to me and reminded me of staying in my uncle’s house with my family. My family and I slept in the same room. So I need to sneak in order not to disturb their sleep. In other words, sneak is either used correctly or being abused for the selfish motive. Happosai in the Ranma 1/2 is a sneaky thief. Out of a sudden, I remembered a cat stealing food from the rubbish bin during my family’s stay at my uncle’s house before I purchase a house. Finally, the cat becomes our good friend knowing we care.
