Silence falls
Here, in corner
Slithering snake
Encircles a cornered cat.
Tighter and tighter
Breathing difficultly
Gasping for air
Tighter and tighter
Cat loses strength to breathe.
A large mouth with
Sharp teeth swallows
The dead cat.
As the cat travels to
The snake’s belly.
Heavy belly.
Snake rests on the ground
And it snores heavily.
A trembled startled man
Returns with
A big baton.
Slashing multitude of heavy blows
Onto the snake’s head.
Cobra vomits out
A huge wet furry creature.
That creature is
The dead cat’s fur
Its fur is wet with
The snake’s saliva.
Cobra is breathless on the floor.

During my family’s stay in my uncle’s landed house, a middle-size snake entered the kitchen. Nobody believed my mother to see a snake except me. Before I went downstairs, I swiftly called the police. Indeed, a brown scale snake was hiding behind boxes. My sister gave a baton to hit it in case it left the kitchen door. My legs turned to stone. Thank God the snake hid under the fridge. The police arrived and shook their head in disbelief when they couldn’t see it under the fridge. And they suggested to us to wait until the next day. Unwilling to let the police go and for everyone’s safety, I mustered up my courage to pull the fridge though not enough strength. My mother joined me. There was the snake. The police were shocked and captured it.
Next day, I shared it with my colleagues. None of them had such encounter except the boss’ son whose landed house was entered by snake three times. The above inspiration flowed out as I relate of one his encounter with mine.
