Eat Vegetable

Good
Essential for health
Best to eat

Grab a bite
Yucks!
Bitter!
But . . .
Forcing myself
To gulp vegetables
On my plate

Day by day
Year by year
Live with such taste
But . . .
At my twelfth year
My tongue doesn’t taste
Bitter vegetables

The fresh leafs of vegetables
Reaps delicious taste
Rich feelings of enjoyment
Crushing vegetables with my teeth
Tasting every pieces of it passing by my tongue
Before entering the throat

Upon interacting with Y Prior, Be With Us, Sharmishtha Basu and Toni Andruikitas about their vegetables consumption experiences (at my Body & Stomach Needs poetry), it struck me to tap upon my younger age experiences in vegetables.  It is a memorable event. Thanks to them for bringing out my memories. Wish you all have good days and thank you.

Body & Stomach Needs

Body needs
Stomach needs

Stomach wants vegetables
Why? Why? Why?
Because
Body needs vegetables

Body needs vegetables
Stomach growls for vegetables
Growl, growl, growl
For vegetables
So your mouth needs to eat
Vegetables

Vegetables are essential for body
Vegetables are rich in taste

My 37 months toddler refused to eat vegetables in the midst of his lunch meal. A story sparks in my mind and slowly develops.

Pyramid Eater

Refusing vegetables, mushroom

Refusing fish and frogs

Refusing! Refusing!

Will produce a

Fussy Tongue

Grown Up

Refusing

Vegetables

Mushrooms

Fish and frogs

These are temporary

Once one is a Grown Up

Will consume more food range

Two weeks ago, my husband and I were discussing about our son’s feeding. Our son disliked certain food such as egg, vegetables and seafood. His idea of food consumption is like a pyramid triangle. Lesser food range choice as he grows older. But I disagreed where the pyramid triangle is the opposite. More food range will be consumed as he grows older. My siblings and I are a good example. Vegetables are disliked during our young times, but now we like to eat it.

Shopping Toddler Again

He grabs the handle
Then he pulls up
The shopping basket.

Grabbing and throw
A pack of vegetables
Into the shopping basket.

Picking up tea pack
Dropping into the basket.
Too heavy. . .
Pick and put it back.

Grabbing an apple
Sniff at it
Drop it into the basket.
Copying me when I smell oranges.

Picking up a box of biscuit
Throws it into the basket.

Leading his dad to fish section
Wanting to buy fishes,
No fishes.
Wanting crab, but
Afraid of it.

A pack of milk
A cute cow on it
Attracts him.
Too heavy!
He grabs it and
He is going to drop
Into his trolley’s basket.
I panicked, “Need to pay first!”
His dad puts it back.

While queuing for cashier
He drops in . . .
A box of ferrero Rocher chocolate.

Why? Why?
Why does he knows . . .
It is a chocolate?
Oh! The advertisement!

When my husband and I brought our toddler to the supermarket where I need to buy some groceries, our toddler gave us a surprise to lead the shopping.
